West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday while attending an administrative meeting raised doubts over Congress Farm Loan Waiver Scheme in three states. She said while somebody was announcing farm loan waive, she was gathering information to ascertain if the move actually benefitted the farmers on the ground.

“There are some (governments) who are waiving farmers’ loans and I am gathering papers to find out whether farmers are actually benefited or not,” Mamata Banerjee said without referring to the Congress directly.

Congress has announced farm loan waiver in MP, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh hours after forming the government.

Applauding her government’s performance in the state, she said, “none other than the Trinamool Congress government has given better services to the farmers. Here in Bengal, we have seen how the entire flock of the farming population has benefited from our pro-farmer policies.”

Doubts raised by TMC Supreme triggered speculations about TMC distancing itself from the Indian National Congress ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

Apart from attacking Bhartiya Janta Party for taking credits for Farmers insurance scheme, she also pointed her guns towards Congress without directly mention the party. Banerjee remarks came after days TRS Chief K Chandrashekhar Rao met her to explore possibilities to forge an alliance on regional parties for Lok Sabha Battle.

Speaking about the farmers’ insurance scheme she said, “They (BJP) are telling the people that the Central Government is giving farmers’ insurance whereas the truth is that the Centre is only contributing 20 percent of the money. The rest is being given by the State. They are trying to mislead the people by telling lies. I am telling this in public and dare them to slap defamation charges against me,” Banerjee added.

While reacting on the state of TMC Supremo, BJP Leader Rahul Sinha said, ‘We don’t want to react on the allegations made by Chief Minister who is totally worthless’.

While Congress State Leader Somen Mitra said, TMC is bound to feel frustrated with Congress’s resounding electoral success.
