West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is known for her cut throat rivalry with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But her silence over the recent changes in  Bihar government is speaking a thousand words against her.

Banerjee has always been active in speaking on any matter that is against Modi. But she chose to be tight lipped over Nitish Kumar‘s break up RJD and forming an alliance with BJP in Bihar. Reacting to her silence, opposition CPI (M) hit out at her saying that she always tried to portray her image as the only voice against Modi. But only high sounding words and personal attacks will not help. One party needs to have an ideology and she should have spoken on Kumar’s decision.

Tathagata Satpathy, a senior MP and the chief whip of the BJD criticising Kumar’s move said that few political leaders cheat with peoples faith when they leave their stand in between breaking the trust of the public and forcing them to even doubt the integrity of politicians in general.

A few political analyst also commented that Banerjee could have used this situation in her favour by speaking up and strengthening her position in the opposition. But Mamata decided to maintain a wait and watch attitude on the political changes happening on Bihar.

Meanwhile, all questioning the silence of Mamata, BJP’s Siddharth Nath Singh, a minister in UP and the party’s former in-charge of West Bengal charged at her saying that after the break up of the mahagathbandhan in Bihar should have made it clear that an alliance without an agenda and by compromising ideologies will not work. He further said that after the washout of RJD from Bihar, BJD and TMC are already feeling defeated in the election due in 2019 and 2021. He also added that “I had once given a slogan, ‘Bhag Mamata Bhag (run Mamata run)’. I am sure my slogan would be a reality soon.”
