Manmohan Singh, former prime minister and one of the star campaigners in Congress, will visit Gujarat on Tuesday to campaign ahead of the upcoming Gujarat Assembly Elections. In a program at Ahmedabad, Manmohan Singh will interact with the traders association and he is expected to talk about the state of the economy, which will also include topics such as demonetisation and GST.

Off late, Rahul Gandhi has been pretty active in Gujarat and he has been taking on the current state & centre governments led by BJP on issues of demonetisation, GST, lack of employment etc. According to one of the state leaders, “In one of the interactions with Rahul Gandhi, the traders had requested to get renowned economist and former prime minister Manmohan Singh to talk about economy and issues like GST and demonetisation. Reportedly, Rahul Gandhi spoke to Manmohan Singh and he agreed to visit the poll-bound state of Gujarat.

The above-cited leader also stated that Manmohan Singh has been known to be a leader who kept the economy in control while he was in charge. Rahul Gandhi has been aggressive and vocal about the central government’s moves and he has often claimed that implementation of GST has affected thousands of small and medium enterprises. He has also been getting good support from traders and businessmen across the state. The party has already held discussions with traders in over 10 cities including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat etc.

Rahul Gandhi will begin his campaigning in North Gujarat starting November 10.
