Hours after the Poll Body issued gag order imposing a ban on Mayawati from Campaigning for next 48 hours, BSP Supremo hit back at the Election Panel terming the action as one-sided. Addressing the press on Monday evening, BSP supremo said, ‘Election Commission has given a one-sided decision. I have been denied the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression’. She called EC action as the black day in the history of the EC.

She further added that ‘EC’s show-cause notice on 11 April didn’t allege that we delivered an inciting speech, it had only 1 allegation that we were asking for votes on name of 1 particular community’.

Terming it one-sided, BSP Chief said that the Poll Body has given us a chance of hearing barring from Campaigning is ‘unconstitutional’. She trained guns towards Bharatiya Janata Party Leaders and said her speech in Saharanpur was not was growing tension between two communities unlike UP CM Yogiadityanath’s.

She further targetted PM Narendra Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah and said they both have been given free license to go around making hate speeches.

The Election Commission had early in the day, ban BSP Supremo Mayawati from Campaigning for 48 hours for making controversial remarks while addressing a rally. BSP Chief Mayawati while addressing a rally in Saharanpur’s Deoband made a communal appeal to Muslims, asked them not to allow a division of their votes.

Mayawati reportedly said that Mahagathbandhan is defeating BJP, and not the Congress, a want to make an appeal to Muslim voters not to allow division of votes’.

Taking a strong cognizance, the poll Commission earlier had served notice to Former UP CM and later barred her from Campaigning. The Poll body in the notice gave the reference of the Top Court that does not allow the use of caste and religion to be used in the poll campaign.

Apart from Mayawati, EC had on Monday ban UP CM Yogi Adityanath for 72 Hours, SP Leader Azam Khan for 72 hours while Union Minister Maneka Gandhi for 48 hours.

All the politician have been booked by the Poll Commission for violating the model code of conduct. General Elections have already started and 91 constituencies have voted on April 11. Uttar Pradesh will vote in all seven phases.
