BSP chief Mayawati was not pleased after her party worker and Vice President Jai Prakash Singh took a personal jibe at Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Singh in the party conference held in Lucknow made remarks on Rahul Gandhi which were uncalled for. He said, “Had Rahul Gandhi looked like his father [Rajiv Gandhi], he could have had a chance of success in Indian politics but he turned out like his mother [Sonia Gandhi], who is a foreigner. His blood is foreign. I can tell you with all surety that Rahul Gandhi can never succeed in Indian politics.”

His comments can prove damaging for the party if BSP plans to form an alliance with the Congress for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. To save face, Mayawati immediately took actions against the VP.

The Dalit leader removed Singh from his post of the Vice President as well as that of the national coordinator on his “foreign origin” remarks. She chided him by saying, “His remarks are borne out of his personal thinking, not of the BSP”.

Though she did not comment on the part where he projected her as the alternate of Prime Minister Modi in 2019 general elections.

BSP and Congress might declare coalition for the state assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan.
