On the second day of the Monsoon Session Mayawati dramatically gave a three-page long resignation to the Vice President on the grounds that she was not given enough time to speak in the House. She was denied more time by Deputy Chairperson PJ Kurien to speak about the atrocities faced by the Dalits and the poor in the country.
Following this incident, now Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati is set to launch a nationwide agitation to fight BJP at the ground level on issues of atrocities against Dalits. The party members who handle the BSP matter in different states said that Mayawati had a telephonic conversation with all of them and has asked them to prepare to launch an agitation zone-wise in every state.
The party member also said that Mayawati has called for a meeting of her party leaders in UP on July 23 and the main agenda of the meeting will be the discussion about launching a day long dharna against BJP. Mayawati wants all her voters to know that she was not allowed to speak about the distress faced by the people she represents.
Mayawati has almost completed changing her party’s organisational structure at ground level to meet new challenges. According to the new changes UP has only two zones and each zone has got eight coordinators to handle party affairs in their allotted areas. “Mayawati is in direct touch with all coordinators. Her every message is communicated to ground level through various WhatsApp groups.
The agitation against BJP and the resignation come just a few months ahead of when her term in the House is going to end.
