Mayawati is rallying troops for the upcoming UP bypolls and the plan remains to ally with SP.  BSP wants to produce the same effect as the outcome of the Gorakhpur and Phulpur bypolls did in the Kairana and Noorpur bypolls this time. At the same time, it has been indicated that BSP will not be supporting anyone in the upcoming bypolls, this is still not the end of the alliance though.

Mayawati’s ultimate enemy is BJP, she said, “No matter how much the BJP people try to incite SP and BSP people, these people are not going to fall for that. We, and all Opposition parties, will have to come together and stop them from coming to power this time. BJP people can see this happening, and that is why they are making random remarks. This is not going to have any effect on us.”

Commenting on the PM’s address which included a reference to BR Ambedkar, Mayawati said that BJP could never create Ambedkar’s India because BJP’s ideology is not what Ambedkar’s ideology was. She called it ‘hypocrisy and drama’. She described the reference as, “muh me Ram, bagal me chhuri.” She said that the reason why BSP candidate Bhimrao Ambedkar didn’t win a Rajya Sabha seat was that BJP conspired using its economic strength and muscle power.

She said that BJP was scared of the BSP-SP alliance and that the alliance was not formed for short-term gains but for the long-term defeat of BJP. The automatic assumption is then that BSP and SP will be participating in the 2019 elections as a team. She took a critical stand on the BJP calling their rule built on lies and on that bred unemployment and anti-people policies. It is rumoured that Mayawati may also be open to Congress joining the alliance as well. This is the first time since 1996 that BSP is entering into an alliance with another party. The last time, BSP had allied with Congress and the failure of that alliance began BSP’s solo journey.
