MCD elections 2017

Delhi Municipal Corporation elections might result in a one-way win for Bhartiya Janata Party, as predicted by 2 of the exit polls. The polling on Sunday took place in 270 wards of Municipal Corporation of Delhi and if the exit polls are to be believed, Bhartiya Janata party will finish way ahead of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress with over 200 seats out of the 270.

The projected figures in exit polls show Aam Aadmi Party in tatters on its home turf where it had bagged 67 out of 70 assembly seats in 2015 assembly elections. At the same time, Congress might have to wait a little longer to display a significant presence in the national capital.

According to India Today-Axis exit poll, Bhartiya Janata party might get anything between 200 and 220 seats. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party will be between 23-35 seats and Congress too will have around 19-31 seats.

The other exit poll by Voter-ABP shows Bhartiya Janata Party getting 218 seats with AAP and Congress getting 24 and 22 seats apiece.

On 23rd April, 2017, the voting took place for 270 wards in Delhi for three municipal corporations. Elections at 2 wards were postponed due to the death of the candidate. The MCD polls saw a voter turnaround of 54%.
