The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday approved the entitlement of air travel on Delhi-Srinagar, Srinagar-Delhi, Jammu-Srinagar and Srinagar-Jammu sectors to all the personnel of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces Paramilitary forces, right from the ranks of constable and above, can now take a flight to Srinagar on duty or return back home on holidays

The decision, which comes after the Pulwama terror attack, that will benefit 780,000 personnel of CAPFs in the ranks of Constable, Head Constable & ASI who were otherwise not eligible earlier. This includes a journey on duty and journey on leave, i.e; while going on leave from Jammu and Kashmir to home and return.

The entitlement of air travel has been approved on the Delhi-Srinagar, Srinagar-Delhi, Jammu Srinagar and Srinagar-Jammu sectors.

Sources said the decision will provide a big relief to the forces and ensure their safety. The movements of the jawans from Jammu to Srinagar has been prone to terrorist attack as the Pulwama attack, which killed 42 CRPF jawans a week ago demonstrated. Air travel will save time too.

The number of flights were further extended in Dec 2018. In addition, air support is provided from Indian Air Force as and when required.

In Jammu and Kashmir Sector, it may be recalled that Air Courier Service for CAPFs jawans was approved for the Jammu-Srinagar-Jammu sector. Subsequently, the Service was extended to cover 1) Delhi-Jammu, 2) Jammu-Srinagar, 3) Srinagar-Jammu and 3) Jammu-Delhi sector in Dec 2017.

The Decision came days after Pulwama Terror Attack that claimed lives of 40 CRPF Personnel when their convoy was attacked by an explosive vehicle been driven by JeM terrorist.

Reacting on the decision, Jitendra Singh, Minister of State, PMO said, ‘This is a path-breaking decision. It’s going to be a huge releif&also a show of respect to our security personnel’.
