Ministry of Home affairs clarified that they have not received any letter regarding an alleged breach in security of the Congress President Rahul Gandhi. As soon as the attention was drawn to the reports of the ‘green’ light being pointed at the Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Amethi yesterday, the Director was asked to verify the factual position of the incident.

Ministry of Home Affairs reported that Director SPG has informed that the ‘green’ light shown in the clipping was identified of that of a mobile phone used by the All India Congress Committee( AICC) photographer. The photographer was recording the impromptu press interaction Of Rahul Gandhi in the Amethi constituency after he filed the nomination.

Earlier, Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Jai Ram Ramesh, and Randeep Surjewala wrote a letter to the Home Minister Rajnath Singh on April 10, over the breach in security in the security of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and possible endangerment of his life. The leaders have alleged that while Rahul Gandhi was addressing the media after filing his nomination for the Amethi constituency, a laser was pointed at his head on at least 7 separate occasions.

The leaders submitted a perusal of his media interaction that will reflect that a laser was pointed at his head, intermittently at seven different occasions in short periods; including twice at his temple on the right side of his head.
The letter read “A perusal of the video by various persons including the former security personnel leads to the prima facie conclusion that this laser could emanate from a potential weapon such as sniper gun.
The leaders urged the minister to look into the matter as even a possibility like this is a cause of serious alarm and concern pointing towards the breach in the security of Rahul Gandhi.
The leaders alleged that there has been a serious lapse in the security of the Congress president and also an alarming lapse on part of the Uttar Pradesh administration that is responsible for the peripheral security of Shri. Rahul Gandhi.
Reminding the sacrifices of the two Gandhi leaders, Lt Smt. Indira Gandhi and Shri Rajiv Gandhi being the victim of assassination, Congress leaders ured the security of Rahul Gandhi as he runs a high risk due to the vulnerability of extensive electioneering going on in the Lok Sabha elections.
