Narendra Modi was invited for dinner at the Whitehouse after the meeting held with the US President Donald Trump. The gesture of inviting Modi over dinner and not lunch shows that the US President is keen in building friendly relations with India.

This is the first time Indian Prime Minister has had the privilege to enjoy dinner at White House with the current President accompanied by the First Lady and other delegates. Few of the top cabinet ministers were also invited, including the Vice-President Mike Pence, Defence Secretary James Mattis, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and National Security Advisor Lt Gen H R McMaster.

Modi was personally guided by Donald trump while giving the tour of his residence. Trump also showed the Lincoln bedroom and showed him a copy of Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg address and the desk on which he wrote it.

Modi time and again thanked the President for his hospitality and warm welcome. He also extended his appreciation and a note of gratitude to the First Lady Melania Trump. According to the office of the First Lady, she personally saw to the arrangements and menu for the welcome.

The Prime Minister invited the US President to India along with his family. He even invited Trump’s daughter Ivanka to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit later this year.
