Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan released two books, in the presence of Vice-President Hamid Ansari and Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, on the third anniversary of the Modi government. The first book was A Social Revolution on Radio by BlueKraft Digital Foundation based on Prime Minister’s radio programme entitled Mann Ki Baat. The second book was Marching with a Billion, based on the Analysis of Narendra Modi’s Government at Midterm by journalist Uday Mahurkar.

Speaking at the release, President Pranab Mukherjee said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had traits of former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. He told that a leader needs to be a good communicator, only then he will be able to go forward taking along the country with him. He further added that alike Jawaharlal Nehru, Modi had the unbeatable quality of being a good communicator. “Prime Minister Modi is one of the most effective communicators and is comparable to illustrious prime ministers Jawahar Lal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. To build a secular constitution after the events of partition was not easy, unless Nehru carried the people with him. Similarly, Indira Gandhi’s communication skills were instrumental in helping India’s case in shaping international opinion in 1971 and the liberation of Bangladesh,” Mukherjee said.

Though, BJP president Amit Shah was not too pleased to hear the comparison of Modi and Indira. He said that, Indira Gandhi had suspended the freedom of the press [during the Emergency], but nothing like that is happening now.
