Patidar leader from Gujarat Hardik Patel took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi when asked about 2019 elections. Patel on Saturday said that there would be “President’s rule” if Modi is back in power after the 2019 elections.

Patel in the meeting with West Bengal CM called out on BJP alleging that it is trying to divide the country. He requested all the non-BJP parties to unite in the fight against the Modi government.

He told the Bengali news channel Ananda, “If Narendra Modi comes back to power after the next year’s Lok Sabha elections there would be President’s rule. All non-BJP parties should unite to fight against the government which has been trying to divide the country.”

He indirectly hinted at Modi by criticizing Modi and his style of politics in Parliament against the opposition.

“I want to see someone as the Prime Minister of the country who will speak on education, health, employment, agriculture and security or safety of the country but not someone who spends 90 minutes criticising the opposition in the Parliament. I do not want such a Prime Minister,” he added.

Patel had on Friday met West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. In a two-hour-long discussion, they expressed the chances of political camaraderie sometime soon. The Patidar convenor said that the West Bengal CM had asked him to join TMC and look over operations in Gujarat. He praised Mamata Banerjee for her “simplicity” and promised to campaign in 2019 Lok Sabha polls in Bengal.

Patel was amazed by her simplicity despite being the Chief Minister. He also learnt from her how to talk to the people and how to work by listening to everybody. Patel called Banerjee a “powerful woman”.
