The Election Commission on a late Friday evening announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address over anti-satellites’ mission did not violate any code of conduct for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The election commission said that the address did not violate the provision of Model Code Of Conduct. “The panel has, therefore, reached the conclusion that the MCC provision regarding misuse of official mass media… is not attracted in the instant case,” the commission said.

The Election Commission mentioned that the news was not telecasted on Air. Doordarshan and All India Radio forwarded the news form ANI and other news channels.

In a discussion of Election Commission, The committee members examined the details of the transcript, AIR, Doordarshan and all correspondence received from them. Doordarshan used the feed provided by ANI. It claimed that they have a subscription to ANI that provides them with the visual of news events around the clock.

The All India Radio has taken audio output as broadcast by Doordarshan news for dissemination over All India Radio Network.

CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechruy had approached the EC alleging that PM Modi has violated the Model Code.

The model code of conduct is in effect for the April-May parliamentary election and some state polls.

In his address of “Mission Shakti”, PM Modi announced on Wednesday, a successful test of Anti-Satellite Missile (A-SAT), saying it had shit down a live satellite. The achievement had put India in the list of “elite space powers” in which only three countries, US, China, and Russia stand apart from India.
