After the heated session with opposition targeting the ruling party over various issues, the second day of the monsoon session was adjourned with no serious business being discussed. Even the third day began with stormy discussions and the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m.

During the session, Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav brought up the issue of border disputes with China saying that India was responsible for protecting Bhutan and Sikkim and that China was a bigger threat to India than Pakistan. He added that Pakistan can not do any harm to India, it is China that India should be scared of.

He further added that China is plotting against India. It has Pakistan in its control and it has placed atom bomb on Pakistani soil. China is all ready to attack India. He said that today India sees a lot of threat from China.

While on the other hand, the issue of recent lynching and atrocities over Dalits was also in discussion in Rajya Sabha, a day after Mayawati’s resignation on the ground of not being given enough time to speak. Mayawati resigned on the second day of the monsoon session saying that she was not given enough time to speak about the grievances and the difficulties her people were facing after deputy chairman P J Kurien for asked her to cut short her speech on the alleged atrocities against Dalits. However, her three-page long resignation has not been accepted as she did not follow the house procedure for resignation.

The opposition had well in advanced planned six major issues that they had to raise during the session against the ruling government such as, lynchings, the standoff with China, farmer suicides, terror attack on Amarnath yatris, use of CBI and ED to “target” Opposition leaders and the effects of GST and demonetisation.
