The monsoon session of the Himachal Pradesh assembly will begin from August 19 and will continue till August 31 with a total of 11 sittings. The Decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

State Government Spokesperson on Tuesday told media, ‘The state Cabinet-led by Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has decided to recommend to the governor to convene the monsoon session’

The State Cabinet in a meeting also approved to increase the procurement price of apple under the market intervention scheme (MIS) from Rs 7.50 to Rs 8 per kilo.

In the meeting, that held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the cabinet also approved to increase the honorarium of water guards from Rs 2,100 to Rs 3,000. While the honorarium of para fitters and pump operators are increased from Rs 3 000 to Rs 4 000. The move is expected to benefit around 6,200 water guards and 500 para fitters and pump operators.

In other decisions, the Cabinet also gave green signal to provide 30 percent subsidy on the installation of the solar water heating system in a bid to encourage optimum use of solar energy. The subsidy will be provided to those having a water heating system with a capacity of 100 to 200 litre per day to domestic consumers in the state.

Chief Minister Jairam Thakur also approved to fill the five posts of civil judge in the Himachal Pradesh High Court through direct recruitment.

While earlier in the day, Chief Minister signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up a 100MW solar power plant in the state. ‘A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 700 crore was signed between the state government and the frontline company for setting up a 100MW solar power plant in Himachal Pradesh. Even in the solar energy sector, we reach the top of Himachal, that is our mission’, said Chief Minister in a tweet.

The Cabinet also observed two minutes silence condoling the death of 13 soldiers of the 4 Assam Rifles and a civilian in building collapse near Kumarhatti in Solan district.
