Both the Houses met on Tuesday for the Monsoon session proceedings after three days of holiday and witnessed a storm of protests over different issues in both the houses.

While during the proceedings of Lok Sabha questions were raised on the attack on Rahul Gandhi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh denied the allegations of Congress saying that Rahul was provided with all security but he violated and the protocols and did not follow the instructions given by the Special Protection Group (SPG). On the other hand issue of 2 different size notes of Rs 500 and Rs 200 being printed arose in Rajya Sabha.

Opposition Congress, supported by TMC and JD(U), disrupted the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha over what it called as “biggest scam of this century” in the printing of two different kinds of 500 and 1000 rupee notes. Congress who were shouting slogans and trooped into the well of the house and JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav also supported them carrying the two different sizes of notes.

Responding to the ruckus created by the opposition, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the opposition was creating an uproar without any valid reason and he complained that they did not even give prior notice to the house to raise such issues in the Zero Hour.

However, the opposition continued to protest some members including Derek O’Brien (TMC) displayed the new 500 rupee notes issued after demonetisation to show the different sizes they were being printed. Kapil Sibal also interrupted the proceeding of the House demanding that the nation needs to know about the issue that why two different size notes were printed.

Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2:30 pm.

Just after five minutes of the session reassuming citing disappointment over the government’s reluctance in answering the alleged discrepancy in the printing of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, Samajwadi Party leaders led by Naresh Agarwal walked out the House.

Following the walkout of Samajwadi Party and the commotion created by the opposition party, the House was adjourned for the day.
