Senior Congress leader and Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh on Thursday claimed his party will win more than 132 seats out of the total 230 in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

Over 74 percent voters exercised their franchise in the state elections held on Wednesday, registered an increase of around three percent against the last polls held in 2013.

High Voting turnouts triggered claims from many Congress State Functionary including Congress State Campaign Chief Jyotiraditya Scindia as a harbinger of change against the ruling BJP. While BJP considers the high voter turnout as a result of voter mobilization by the RSS Cadre.

“We are going to win more than 132 seats and wrest power from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state after 15 years,” Digvijay Singh told reporters in Bhopal.

Digvijay Singh said that this election was fought between the government and the public. The workers in the state have put their ‘body, soul and heart’ to ensure the Congress wins the polls.

In the run-up to the elections, Singh had toured almost the entire state in a bid to thaw differences within the Congress.

The results are scheduled for December 11 with assembly election of other four states.
