The Election Commission on Thursday announced a re-poll in one booth of Anuppur district in Madhya Pradesh where there was a difference of 56 votes recorded. While the EC has not announced any re-polling in Satna district where many EVMs reportedly malfunctioned during the November 28’s polls.

Though both the major political players – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress – had demanded a re-poll.

“In Madhya Pradesh, the observer recommended re-polling only in one booth in Anuppur district where there was a difference of 56 between the check sheet and the EVM. The on-duty officer said the man who was operating the EVM was not efficient. We have sent this report to Election Commission of India,” chief electoral officer VL Kantha Rao said.

People of Mahori booth will re-poll today on December 1, Saturday.

BJP spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal while talking to media siad, “We will cross-check the facts with our local Leaders and polling agents before taking further action.”

State Congress media in-charge Shobha Oza said, “We have asked for re-polling if the delay was more than three hours in any Booth, but nowhere was the delay more than two hours, so we are not pushing the matter.”

The voter turnout was recorded over 74% in Madhya Pardesh Polls 2018.

Madhya Pradesh is among the five states which go for polls ahead of Mega Lok Sabha Battle of 2019. The results of all five state assembly elections will be announced on December 11.
