The Indian National Congress on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission, seeking an inquiry into the blank postal ballots found unclaimed at the state police’s Home Guard office.

“We have lodged a complaint to the Poll body about Tuesday’s incident in which unclaimed blank postal ballots were found in the Home Guard office near the State Police Headquarters. We have also made a complaint about the lack of proper security in the EVMs Strongroom” said Congress State Election Affairs In-charge JP Dhanipia.

He added “Those postal ballots found at Home Guards office should have been delivered to service voters, who are posted outside. It appears that they had not been given to the voters. This should be thoroughly investigated,” Dhanopia said.

In the meanwhile, the Election Commission said action has been initiated against three Home Guard personnel in this connection.

The Public Relation officer of Poll-body said in a Press Release that, the postman had delivered all 124 postal ballots sealed in envelopes to an assistant sub-inspector at the Home Guards office, instead of delivering them separately to the persons to whom these envelopes were addressed. The officer and employees did not deliver them to the persons concerned.

The Madhya Pradesh State polls were held on November 28. Congress has been continuously raising concern over the security of the EVMs Strongrooms. A Delegation of Senior Congress Leader met ECI in this regard.

While Congress State Media Cell In-charge Shobha Oza alleged that the EC has sent Ballots on November 29 a day after the state went to polls. So several of them failed to exercise their franchise.

The Counting of Votes will take place on December 11 along with other state assembly elections.
