Mukul Roy Bengal

Mukul Roy, the former leader of Trinamool Congress, has officially joined BJP earlier today. Ravi Shankar Prasad, senior BJP leader and law minister in the central government made this announcement. He said that Mukul Roy is officially joining BJP and the party welcomes him for his new journey.

After being a Trinamool leader for all his life, Roy had resigned from his Rajya Sabha seat and the membership of TMC on October 11th. There were speculations from the beginning that he would join BJP. Last month itself, he had met Arun Jaitley and Kailash Vijayvargiya and since then, it was almost confirmed that BJP was going to be his next destination.

On 25th September, he was suspended from TMC for allegedly alleging in anti-party activities. He has been a former union railway minister and was considered to be second in command at TMC after Mamata Banerjee.

This is not very clear as of yet as to what responsibilities will BJP be giving to Mukul Roy, however, this is evident that we will get to see him handling some important role as far as West Bengal’s state politics is considered.
