Naidu-led TDP leaders to sit on protest against IT raids in Andhra Pradesh

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu along with the TDP members will sit on a protest on Friday at Ambedkar Statue, near Tummalapoalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada, against the Income Tax Department raid on the party members since past few days.

YSR Congress Party accused three Indian Police Service officers in Andhra Pradesh were favoring Naidu -led TDP. The Election commission transferred the three officials within 24 hours. The three IPS officers were, Intelligence Director General AB Venkateswara Rao, Kadapa Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Dev Sharma, and Srikakulam SP Venkata Ratnam. The officers were directed to not take up any election regarding duties.

With the general elections coming closer, similar raids were done by the Income Tax department in Karnataka. Chandrababu Naidu then claimed that special teams consisting Enforcement Directorate and It officials have been created to raid. In his previous allegation, Naidu also claimed that the IT department has called the CRPF convoy to raid the houses of the politicians. The IT department is using government officials to raid our houses.

“Today I don’t know which places officials of Income Tax Department will raid. In Karnataka, the same thing happened. During the polls, a minister’s house was raided. special teams have been created to raid opposition party leaders through ED and IT,” Naidu said while he was referring to the Karnataka raids that happened on Thursday.

The TDP chief, Chandrababu Naidu staged a dharna two months back at the Andhra Bhawan in New Delhi demanding special category status and fulfillment of assurances made by the center after bifurcation of the state. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Rahul Gandhi visited him at his protest.

Andhra Pradesh will go to polls in the first phase of elections on April 11.
