4th July, a very important day for both Indian and Israelis. For India, it is a big day as today PM Modi departed for Israel to elevate all the ties with the Jewish state. For Israel also, it is a big day as 41 years ago, on this date, Israeli PM Netanyahu‘s elder brother, Lt Colonel Yonatan Netanyahu died on this date. He had sacrificed his life while serving to Israeli hostages held at Entebbe Airport in Uganda. He had commanded the Sayeret Matkal unit of Israeli Defense Force during the Operation Entebbe in 1976. The flight from Tel Aviv to Paris was hijacked and ended up landing at Entebbe Airport. Though the operation was a great success it ended up by taking Yonatan’s life, the only one amongst the force to be killed in the action.
As PM Modi is in Israel currently, he recalled this incident and has volleyed sacrifices of PM Netanyahu’s brother.
