Narendra Modi

Considering the depletion of many river and water sources a major problem, the PM has urged other states to follow the footsteps of MP for conserving the water.

At the concluding ceremony of 148-day ‘Namami Devi Narmade-Narmada Sewa Yatra’ at Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister released the booklet ‘Narmada Pravah’. The booklet contains the Madhya Pradesh government’s plan to rejuvenate Narmada. The PM termed the booklet as the perfect documentation for future vision and suggested that the booklet should be sent to other states also, to be used as the idle guide for the conservation of rivers.

The PM further added that, the Narmada Sewa Yatra is a historical step on the global map and that the river has contributed tremendously in the agricultural growth of the state. He said that 22 cities from MP can be selected under the smart city scheme and other states should also be influenced by MP’s participation in the Swachchata Abhiyan.

After PM’s speech, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that mini smart city scheme will be launched on the lines of the Centre’s Smart City. He further added that Amarkantak would be developed as a mini smart city, where 6 crore saplings will be planted on July 2 and ‘Briksha Sewak’ will be deployed by the state government to take care of them. He focused on the need to maintain balance between development and environment protection saying that though, the yatra has ended its mission would continue. The CM also said that mining in the hill area of Amarkantak will be banned and Narmada banks will be a no-alcohol zone.

Though, the BJP leaders have termed it as a non political show, but this Narmada Sewa Yatra has connected the CM and his party to the very roots in the Narmada region.
