Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who is leading an Indian Parliament delegation to Russia, while addressing the Russian Parliament, the Duma state, said that all the nations should work together against terrorism and cross border movement of terrorists. This was said in an apparent reference to Pakistan.
She landed in Russia, two days after the terrorist attacked Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir, killing seven of them and injuring 19. The Duma spokesperson gave his condolence on behalf of the Russian Parliament on the terrorist attack in Anantnag.
While praising India’s economic growth, she said that Government of India has rolled out the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1 which is an important economic reform measure.
She also talked about the ambitious projects of India with Russia which includes the opening of International North-South Transport Corridor, establishment of green-corridor, technology transfer and deepening the mutual friendships between the people of the two countries are the areas which need to be strengthened.
She stressed that Parliamentary cooperation between the legislatures of Russia and the Indian states needs to be expanded.
