Navjot Singh Siddhu on Monday sent his resignation to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, a day after he made the resignation submitted to Rahul Gandhi ‘public’. ‘Today I have sent my resignation to the Chief Minister Punjab, has been delivered at his official residence…’, said Congress Leader Navjot Singh Siddhu.

Responding to the ongoing development, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said, ‘I have never opposed Mrs. Sidhu, in fact, I was the one who recommended to Rahul Ji that she contests from Bathinda. It was Sidhu who said that his wife will not contest from Bathinda but from Chandigarh. So it was not for him to decide this, the party decides these things’.

Speaking to ANI, Punjab Chief Minister said, ‘I have no issues with him, I had in fact given him a very important portfolio after the reshuffle. It was his decision to quit the Cabinet. I have been told that he has sent the letter to my office, will go through it and then see what is to be done’.

Earlier on Sunday, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Power and New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister in Punjab Cabinet, announced to stepped down from Minister post amid the tussle between him and the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

Navjot Singh Sidhu submitted the letter to the then Congress President Rahul Gandhi on June 10, however, he made the letter public on Sunday. Singh had on June 10 met Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Ahmed Patel in the national capital. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, June 6, removed Sidhu as Local Government and Tourism and Culture Minister was an allocated charge of Power and New and Renewable Energy Sources Ministry.

‘My letter to the Congress President Shri. Rahul Gandhi Ji, submitted on 10 June 2019’, Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted on Sunday. While in another tweet, he said ‘Will be sending my resignation to the Chief Minister, Punjab’.

Both Singh and Sidhu were in a tussle since Sidhu visited Pakistan for the swearing-in ceremony of PM Imran Khan. Sidhu during the visit hugged Pakistan Army Chief that had later sparked a big political controversial.

The loggerheads between the two leaders get even more fuelled further with Sidhu’s wife accusing Captain Amarinder was involved in denying ticket for Lok Sabha Polls. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, a wife of Navjot Singh Sidhu, was seeking ticket from Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat and later from Amritsar Lok Sabha Seat.
