Facing a tussle with Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Ahmed Patel in the national capital.

‘Met the Congress President, handed him my letter, appraised him of the situation!’, said Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu in a tweet.

His meeting with Congress President comes days after Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday, June 6, removed Sidhu as Local Government and Tourism and Culture Minister. He has been now given the charge of Power and New and Renewable Energy Sources Ministry.

He, in the cabinet meeting also made reshuffling. Soon after that, Sidhu held a Facebook Live session and said: “Despite collective responsibility, I cannot be singled out and  I cannot be taken for granted”.

Chief Minister’s move to shift his portfolios came after Sidhu skipped Cabinet meeting and launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Both Singh and Sidhu were in a tussle since Sidhu visited Pakistan for the swearing-in ceremony of PM Imran Khan. Sidhu during the visit hugged Pakistan Army Chief that had later sparked a big political controversial.

The loggerheads between the two leaders get even more fuelled further with Sidhu’s wife accusing Captain Amarinder was involved in denying ticket for Lok Sabha Polls. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, a wife of Navjot Singh Sidhu, was seeking ticket from Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat and later from Amritsar Lok Sabha Seat.

Congress who faced a humiliating defeat in the national polls nationwide, Punjab, however, delivered a relatively better result for the party. Congress manage to won eight seats of 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Soon after results, Captain Amarinder Singh slammed Sidhu saying that party could not do well in urban areas because Sidhu had handled his portfolio poorly.

Sidhu was reportedly camping in the national capital since Friday to meet Rahul Gandhi. However, it is still not clear whether Punjab Minister has offered his resignation.
