Ahead of the Assembly Elections 2017, ND Tiwari, Congress Veteran who has been chief minister of Uttar pradesh and Uttarakhand, along with being Cabinet Minister in Rajiv Gandhi government, has joined Bhartiya Janta Party along with his son, Rohit Shekhar.

ND Tiwari is the only political leader in the history of Indian politics, who has served as the chief minister of two different states. He served as Minister for External affairs in Rajiv Gandhi government. From 2007 to 2009, he was the governor of Andhra Pradesh.

ND Tiwari and his son, joined BJP formally at the residence of BJP President, Amit Shah.

Looking at ND Tiwari’s political career, the move seems significant enough to change the course of upcoming UP elections, provided, Congress hasn’t been as strong as before and it is going into elections after forming a coalition with Samajwadi Party.
