A news website suggested that former Delhi Metro chief E Sreedharan could be in consideration as a candidate of the NDA for the upcoming presidential poll.
BJP has not suggested any name so far, though the possibility of a non political candidate is remote. BJP negotiators reached out to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu over the presidential poll. The TDP chief does not have a specific criteria and will be willing to consider any choice put forward by PM Narendra Modi.
Naidu and home minister Rajnath Singh are scheduled to meet Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi to seek the opposition’s suggestions for the candidate for the Presidential polls. Though the decision on a common candidate between the NDA and non-NDA parties is unlikely, as Left parties remain opposed to any NDA nominee and Congress has reservations too.
