Presenting the Union Budget 2019 in the Lok Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday informed that a Gandhipedia has been developed to aware youth about the Gandhian values. ‘Gandhipedia’ is being developed to sensitize the youth about positive Gandhian values’, said Finance Minister.

Further talking about Mahatma Gandhi, Nirmala Sitharaman said, ‘This year as we mark the 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Gaon, Garib and Kisan will remain at the centre of all our schemes’.
Talking about the government’s flagship Swachh Bharat, Finance Minister said that the government is proposing to expand and undertake solid waste management in every village.
‘Swachh Bharat has brought enormous environmental and health benefits. 9.6 crore toilets have been constructed and more than 5.6 lakh villages have become open-defecation free’ she said while adding that she is happy and satisfied to inform that India will be made Open Defecation Free on October 2nd, 2019, as per the dream of PM Modi’.
The Economic Survey presented by the Union Government on Thursday also highlighted the progress made by the flagship programme – Swachh Bharat Scheme. The Scheme was launched in 2014 in a bid to achieve Universal Sanitation coverage by October 2, 2019.
The Initiative is one of the world’s biggest cleanliness drive and an attempt of behavior change.
This was Nirmala Sitharaman’s maiden Budget Presentation and the first Budget of the second Narendra Modi-led government.
