Nitish Kumar‘s support for Ramnath Kovind is seen as a crack in RJD-JDU-Congress alliance. It is taken as a serious division rather than an outlying act. Nitish Kumar is creating a confusion within the Alliance as on one hand, he is supporting opposition’s nominee and on another hand, he is not taking any actions against RJD’s Chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav for his alleged cases.

A leader of BJP said that when Kumar was a part of NDA in 2012, he had backed his support to Pranab Mukherjee who was a part od UPA. He also reminded about JDU’s alliance with BJP when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. He further said that RJD-JDU-Congress alliance will not last for six months after Kumar’s has backed his support to NDA’s nominee. He has a firm believe that Kumar wants to join hands with BJP again as he could have supported Meira Kumar but instead, he selected Kovind. After Kumar has supported demonetisation, he has given a hint that he wants a break off with ‘mahagatbandhan’. Possible reasons for this could be the cases against Lalu and his family members or as Congress is unlikely to formally support anyone other than Rahul Gandhi for PM.
