Nitish Kumar

The dramatic series of events in the politics of Bihar seems to have gotten over with Nitish Kumar winning the trust vote in Bihar Assembly earlier today. The voting, which took place in the Bihar assembly, saw BJP – JD(U) coalition getting the required number of votes. The voting was held in a special session called by the speaker of Bihar assembly.

Nitish Kumar currently holds the support of BJP and its supporting parties under NDA. He had resigned from his post of chief minister on Wednesday evening, which ended his coalition with RJD. Ever since his resignation, there has been a series of statements and political permutations to reach out to a conclusion and even until the start of the trust vote, there were doubts over reaching the majority mark.

The coalition of BJP and JDU got 131 votes in the assembly, against 108 of RJD and Congress. The halfway mark of majority in Bihar assembly is 122 and the total number of seats is 243.
