Non-bailable offence was charged against BJP state president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai for his anti-Muslim or communal comments involving the Balakot air strikes.

A non-bailable offence was charged against the BJP state president for his anti-Muslim comments. The complaint filed by V Sivankutty was registered under IPC 153, 153A for ‘wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot’ and promoting ‘enmity between different groups on grounds of religion,race, place of birth, residence, language.’

With reference to Indian Air Force’s attack on Balakot Sreedharan Pillai had said, ” Our Rahul Gandhi, Yechury, and Pinarayi are saying, our soldiers have to go there and see the count of the dead…their caste,religion,etc. If it is Islam, there are some signs, no? If you remove their clothes you will be able to know. We have to do all that and return is what they are saying.”

Reacting to Pillai’s communal slang CPM general secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said,”Their communalism is subtle through this comment.” Congress leader demanded an apology from pillai on his comment.

“The BJP need not be under the impression that the Yogi model comments can work in Kerala,” said P.K. Kunhalikutty, national general secretary of Indian Union Muslim league (IUML). however Pillai rejected to making any communal slang.
