In a dramatic series of events on Tuesday, caretaker CM of Tamilnadu, O Panneerselvam alleged VK Sasikala and her camp for forcing him to resign from the post of Chief Minister. He also added that he is ready to take back the resignation if people of Tamilnadu and MLAs want him to.

The series of events started on Tuesday evening, when O Panneerselvam reached Marina Beach with very less security and sat beside the Jayalalithaa memorial in meditation pose. He remained there for around half and hour and then started a press conference on Marina Beach. In his allegations to VK Sasikala, he added that she and her supporters were annoyed with the kind of support and response he was getting from the public. Specially in sensitive issues like Jallikattu, mitigating drinking water crisis in capital city along with monitoring the situation after the Vardah cyclone.

The unexpected press conference gained him support from a lot of citizens who took to social media to show their support to him. However, all did not go too well inside AIADMK, where the party heads removed him from the post of treasurer. Sasikala alleged him to take these steps with the help of DMK and other pro Sasikala politicians even alleged that the central government was behind the ongoing developments.

In less than 12 hours of the press conference at Marina beach, Panneerselvam again came in front of media and said that a lot of citizens have doubt about Amma’s death. He suggested that it is the duty of the government to answer people’s query and the government should constitute a committee to probe into her death and it should be headed by an independent retired judge. He did not distance himself from the fact that Sasikala could be behind the death of Jayalalithaa, however, he directly did not point it out and suggested that it should be inquired.

He also spoke on the development which made him lose the post of treasurer of AIADMK and added that Sasikala does not have powers to do the same.

Earlier on Tuesday, veteran AIADMK leader PH Pandian had questioned the rise of Sasikala within the party and added that it was against the democratic means. He alleged that she does not qualify to be either the party chief or the chief minister. Only elected cadres can choose the party chiefs and only the elected members can be made chief minister.
