Over the last few days, Opposition has been trying its best to field a candidate and draft a strategy, which can give a tough competition to BJP candidate. However, after the announcement of Ram Nath Kovind as the candidate from BJP and Nitish Kumar announcing to support BJP in the polls, Opposition has gone in complete disarray.
BJP already boasts of a majority in the centre, apart from ruling various important states. With the added support of JD(U) and other parties within NDA, it is not going to be difficult at all for the party to get its candidate elected. With such equations being formed, opposition seems to be having no chances of putting a strong competition against Ram Nath Kovind.
Congress and other parties have decided to hold a meeting today to discuss about their bet for the presidential candidate. Also, the parties will be discussing their strategy for the coming weeks. JD(U)’s move has for sure come in as a shocker for the opposition and the coming weeks will decide the course and future of opposition as a unit in Indian politics.
