A meeting of opposition parties, which was scheduled for Friday to discuss the poll debacle in the recently held national polls 2019 has been canceled due to unavailability of some leaders, sources confirmed on Thursday.

Days after facing a massive defeat in the national polls, Congress had called a meeting of UPA Parties in Parliament on May 31 to discuss the possible reason for the crushing defeat in the national polls.

All the parties were also expected to discuss their plans for the Parliament Session which is likely to begin from June 6, Thursday.

Apart from Congress, RJD, Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP, Sharad Pawar‘s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were expected to join the meeting called in to take place at the Parliament.

The Opposition Parties in the recently held polls faced humiliating defeat with Congress-led UPA stood at 91 Lok Sabha Seats with Congress bagging just 52 seats out of over 400 contested seats in the national polls.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party, on May 23 scripted history by bagging 303 seats on its own in the recently concluded national polls. Along with its allies, it took its tally to 352 Lok Sabha Seats out of 542 Seats were national polls held in April-May in seven phases.
