After reports of Nitish Kumar being morally inclined to support Ram Nath Kovind as the presidential candidate, senior congress leader, Gulam Nabi Azad met the JDU leaders in Patna on Tuesday. The meeting of Gulam Nabi Azad and Nitish Kumar took place ahead of the core committee meeting of JDU in Patna.

After the announcement of BJP’s candidate, the opposition has been seen in an aggressive mode to gather support. Though they have not yet announced their candidate, they have been trying to gather support from various parties since a few months now. The opposition parties have also called for a meeting on June 22nd to decide their strategies for the upcoming polls. The last date for filing nomination for the elections in June 28th. The voting will take place on 17th July and the counting will happen on July 20th. Current president, Pranab Mukherjee has his term ending on July 24th.

After the announcement of a Dalit candidate by BJP, the opposition seems to be drawing strategy from a new front. The rumoured names, which have been coming out for the probable opposition candidates include former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar, senior congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde and grandson of Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Prakash Ambedkar.
