Over fifty-three lakh voters in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh are set to register their voice on May 19 polls. ‘53,30,154 voters will vote in 7730 polling stations on May 19, said additional CEO DK Ratan on Friday.
Revealing the details about preparations for the last phase of elections, Additional Chief Electoral Officer said out of the total 7730 polling stations, at least 373 are critical. Over 47 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed for the mega polls battle of ballots.
Further talking about the poll preparedness, Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that Full arrangements have been made to ensure that voting takes place in a peaceful manner. Talking about the May 19 polls, Ratan said polling agents are either reached or on the way to their respective polling stations.
“In Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal, the polling station has been set at an altitude of 15,256 feet at Tashigang. This is the world’s highest polling station,” he added.
A total of 45 candidates have filed nomination for a single phase of national polls for 4 Lok Sabha seats of the state.
Out of the total 4 Parliamentary Seats, Mandi Lok Sabha Seat saw a maximum for 17 Candidates filing the nomination to be in the electoral fray. While Kangra and Hamirpur Lok Sabha Seat recorded nominations with just 11. For Shimla Lok Sabha Seat, 6 candidates have filed nominations for national polls 2019.
Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019. General Elections 2019 is being held across Seven Phases from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.
Himachal Pradesh’s 4 Lok Sabha Seats will poll in a single phase on May 19.
