Former Minister and Telangana Rashtriya Samithi Senior Leader T Padma Rao Goud on Monday elected as Deputy Speaker of Telangana Assembly unanimously. His name was recommended by TRS working President and son of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, KT Rama Rao. With all the parties consent in the assembly, Goud elected as deputy speaker which was announced by assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.

Padma Rao Goud had in 2014 served as the Cabinet Minister in KCR Government in 2014

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, BJP MLA Rajasingh, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and others extended their wishes to Padmarao Goud.

Rao was elected unopposed as all the Opposition parties including Congress, Bhartiya Janta Party and AIMIM choose not to field any candidate against T Padma Rao Goud.

T Padma Rao Goud is considered close to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He was elected as MLA thrice from the Secunderabad Assembly constituency. In addition, he was also one of the founder-member of the TRS floated by KCR in 2001 and fought for the separate state. He was Excise and Prohibition minister in the KCR’s previous regime.

TP Rao Goud extended gratitude for the party leaders for electing him unanimously.

Ending over two months of speculation, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on February 19 expanded his two-member Cabinet with induction of ten members. KCR appointed 10 Ministers in first Cabinet Expansion in Telangana with 6 new faces.
