The Patna High Court Divisional Bench on Monday dismissed the petition filed by RJD Leader Tejashwi Yadav challenging the Bihar government’s order to vacate the bungalow allocated to him when he was the Deputy Chief Minister in the state.

Bihar Former Deputy Chief Minister Yadav had moved to the Court against the single judge order of October 6 which asked him to change his accommodation with his successor. [Sushil Kumar Modi]. A two-judge bench of Patna High Court rejected his appeal on the matter today.

The single-judge bench in its order had stated on October 6 “the petitioner [Tejashwi Yadav] has been allotted a bungalow, matching his status as a minister in the government, at 1, Polo Road, Patna. He cannot raise a complaint about the decision so taken, simply because the present bungalow is more suited to him”.

Yadav who is the current Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly still lives in the bungalow 5, Desratan Marg,  that was allocated to him in 2015 when he was the Deputy Chief Minister.

Nitish Kumar government had asked the Leader of Opposition, Yadav to swap his current Bungalow with the current Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, who lives in 1, Polo Road, situated about a kilometre away.

RJD Leader Yadav has first written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in September last year, asking the CM that he be allowed to continue living here.

Last month, when a team of district administration reached the Bungalow to demand that he should vacate it, RJD Chief Lalu Yadav reportedly had got in touch with Nitish Kumar through Janata Dal-United leader Prashant Kishor and asked that the officials be recalled.
