The SP leader took a dig at both the BJP government at the Centre led by Narendra Modi and the BJP state government led by Yogi Adityanath.

In a statement to the press, Akhilesh said that “people are feeling extremely harassed due to the policies of the BJP governments both at the Centre and state…They will give a befitting reply to it through the results of the urban body elections.”

He also blamed the Yogi Adityanah government in Uttar Pradesh for being responsible for all the problems faced by the traders, students, youth and farmers. He said that the atrocities forced upon the people in the state are making them unhappy with the ruling government and they will give a befitting reply during the urban body elections.

The Samajwadi Party leader also accused the Yogi government of damaging the infrastructure to develop villages and basic amenities established by the previous SP government.

The ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh will be facing the electoral test for the first time after coming to power, when the civic polls will be held in the state in three phases from 22 Nov.
