Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a fresh salvo at Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Congress President’s home turf Amethi. During his visit to Congress bastion, PM Modi also launched a slew of developmental projects for the area. Among them, the biggest one was the announcement of an Indo-Russia joint venture to produce the AK-203 assault rifle at the Ordinance Factory Board factory located in Amethi.
‘One of the most advanced rifles in world AK-203 will be made in Amethi. It will be made by a joint-venture of India & Russia. I express my gratitude to my friend President Vladimir Putin, this venture was made possible in such a short time by his support’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while announcing the mega project in Amethi.

Praising Smriti Irani for her work in Congress’s Hometurf, PM Modi said “We might have lost an election here but we won your hearts. In the last 5 years, Smriti ji has worked so hard for the development of this region. She never made you feel whether you made her win or lose, she worked more than the person who won here”.
Further training guns towards Congress, PM said, ‘Some people have the habit of forgetting the public after getting votes. They want to keep the poor in poverty so they can say ‘gareebi hatao’ generation after generation. We are giving strength to the poor to bring them out of poverty’.
PM Modi stated that Amethi was the perfect example of the BJP’s policy of ‘Sabka Saath, sabka vikas’. Taking a dig at the Gandhi family, the Prime Minister said, “Now, Amethi will not be known for a famous family but for AK 203”, ‘Made in Amethi’.
He also lashed out at the Opposition over the Rafale deal row, stating that the deal for the Rafale fighter jet was “bitterly opposed” by the Congress “for the sake of a commission.” The PM further said, “Despite clean chits, they opposed the Rafale deal due to their own vested interests. But Rafale jets will fly soon.”
Smriti Irani who had unsuccessfully contested 2014 General Elections also launched attacks on Amethi MP and Congress President while speaking from the dais. Apart from PM Modi, Smriti Irani, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were also present.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while lauding Air Strikes said, ‘When 7,50,000 AK-203 rifles made here will be in the hands of our jawans, the condition of the enemies will be the same as it was after Air Strikes and Surgical Strike‘.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman training guns towards Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Those who should have been concerned about Amethi did not do anything. With efforts of PM Modi, now AK-203 modern rifles will be made at Korwa, Amethi. This is the fruit of the Prime Minister’s efforts since the last one year’.
Modi in his visit also unveiled several projects including a steel processing unit worth Rs 9,200 crore and an upgradation project of Amethi’s bus stations and depot workshops worth Rs 496.80 crore.
