Congress President Rahul Gandhi hit out on PM Modi over his 90-minute speech in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Rahul lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his game of accusations and questions on everyone but himself. He added in a strong message that instead of the blame game the PM should answer the nation on the Rafale deal, farmer issues, and on employment generation.

In a follow-up to the reporters outside Parliament, Gandhi said that he completely gets the point of Modi blaming the Congress for everything. But he chose to differ on the point that even after being in power for four years the PM is still questioning the opposition. He should instead start giving answers to the people.

On the Motion of Thanks, Gandhi replied,

“I can understand that before 2014, the Prime Minister was talking about the 70 years of Congress rule. But today, the BJP is in government, Modi is the Prime Minister, not opposition,”

This statement came as soon as Modi finished his fierce speech in the Lok Sabha. Gandhi took out the hardest of the points to attack the ruling party on issues of the irregularity in Rafale fighter jet deal.

“There is corruption in the Rafale deal, Prime Minister should answer on that,” he said.

During the course of the one and a half hour long speech, Gandhi questioned the previous Congress-led government and blamed them for hastily bifurcating Andhra Pradesh. As the PM was about to reply, the Telugu Desam Party staged a protest in-House. The TDP members, however, went back to their seats, giving the Congress MPs an impetus to protest. Modi also lashed out at the Congress for not doing enough for the progress of the country. This he believes results in everything getting sluggish.

Gandhi additionally reported that the PM has forgotten the gravity of his office.

“Questions are being asked by the country from the prime minister, but he is not answering… here you have to give answers and not ask questions to the country instead.”

According to Gandhi,

“He is right in talking about the Congress party, but this is not the place to raise it. You can raise this issue at a public meeting, but not here. “Here, you have to answer to the country. You are not to make accusations here.”
