Days after storming back to power at Centre with a massive majority, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday arrived in Kerela’s Thrissur. Wearing a half-sleeved shirt, PM Narendra Modi reached the city by helicopter on Saturday morning.

PM Modi reached Kochi at the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

He offered prayer at the Shri Krishna Temple at Guruvayur. ‘The Guruvayur temple is divine and is very majestic. Prayed at this historic temple for India’s progress and prosperity’, tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He is also expected to address BJP workers for the first time in Kerela days after registering a massive victory in the recently held national polls and storming back to power at the Centre.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will later proceed for his visit to the Maldives, a day after which is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka.

“I would be visiting the Maldives and Sri Lanka on 8th and 9th June. These visits indicate the importance we attach to the policy of ‘Neighbourhood First’ and will further cement ties with key maritime neighbours”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted earlier.

In a series of tweet, PM Modi also expressed his solidarity with people of Sri Lanka. ‘The people of India stand firmly with the people of Sri Lanka, who suffered great agony and destruction in the wake of the horrific terror attacks on Easter. We fully support Sri Lanka in the fight against terror’, PM Modi said in a series of tweet.

This will be PM Modi first foreign visit after storming back to power for the second term.

While, his visit to Kerela comes at a time when Congress President Rahul Gandhi is also on 3-day visit to the Wayanad, his Lok Sabha Constituency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party, on May 23 scripted history by bagging 303 seats on its own in the recently concluded national polls. Along with its allies, it took its tally to 352 Lok Sabha Seats out of 542 Seats were national polls held in April-May in seven phases.

However, in Kerela, BJP drew a blank while Congress-led UDF bagged 19 seats out of 20 in the state.
