PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched BJP‘s Mega Membership Drive in his Parliamentary Constituency Varanasi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the occasion, was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP Working President JP Nadda.

‘At around 11:30 this morning, I will address the programme in Varanasi marking the launch of @BJP4India’s Membership Drive. During my speech, I will elaborate on my thoughts on the Budget and India’s growth trajectory in the coming years. Do watch’, said PM Modi on Twitter earlier today.

He also addressed the Public meeting in his parliamentary constituency and hailed the Union Budget 2019. Speaking in Varanasi, PM Modi said, ‘Yesterday on TV and today in newspapers, you must have heard and read about the goal of $5 trillion economy. It is very important for you all to understand what $5 trillion economy means & how it is connected to every Indian citizen.’

Further talking about the economy, PM Modi said as quoted by ANI, ‘There is a saying in English ‘size of the cake matters’, meaning, the bigger the cake, bigger the slice people will get. That is why we have goal of a $5 trillion dollar economy’.

He added, ‘In the budget, we gave direction to achieve a goal of $5 trillion economy & decisions related to it were announced. We have presented the confidence that we have stepped in the field with a vision of coming 10 years. We will become a $5 trillion economy in the next 5 years’.

PM Narendra Modi reached Varanasi earlier in the day where he was welcomed by UP CM Yogi Adityanath, BJP Working President JP Nadda and BJP State Chief Mahendra Nath Pandey. He also inaugurated a statue of former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri at Varanasi airport.

While before launching BJP membership drive, PM Modi in the city also launched a Tree Plantation Drive.

With the mega membership Drive, BJP is trying to increase its membership by 20 percent with the mega campaign. Senior Leaders have been tasked with the responsibility of making it bigger.

This is Narendra Modi second visit to Varanasi after being re-elected to the Lok Sabha Seat. Days after getting a big mandate, PM Modi had on May 27 visited Varanasi and thanked voters for re-electing him from the Lok Sabha Seat.
