Prime Minister Narendra Modi pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of Nation, on his 71st Death Anniversary. Apart from them, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharam and Congress President Rahul Gandhi also paid homage to ‘Father of Nation’.

PM Modi took to social networking site and wrote: ‘Remembering Bapu on his Punya Tithi. We reiterate our commitment to follow the path shown by him and abide by the values he stood for.

Earlier on Tuesday, he said that he will visit Dandi on ‘Bapu’s Punya Tithi’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation the National Salt Satyagraha Memorial at Dandi in Gujarat on Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary today. The memorial is a tribute to the 80 marchers who accompanied Mahatma Gandhi from Sabarmati to Dandi in 1930.

President Ram Nath Kovind wrote: ‘On Martyrs’ Day, we gratefully remember Mahatma Gandhi and the countless freedom fighters who sacrificed their all for our Independence #PresidentKovind’.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
