The idea of the National Health Promotion Scheme initiated by the Modi Government seems less like an idea and more like a reality as the days pass by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has been providing extra attention to the preparations of this Scheme, which has colloquially been termed as Modicare. A personal monitoring of the progress of the official launch of this scheme has been set up by the former BJP leader.

Modicare, which is supposed to be launched under the Ayushman Bharat initiative, requires the support of all the states of India in order for the citizens to benefit wholly from the health assurance programme. Hence, PM Modi has taken it under his watchful eyes to ensure that all the Indian states have been briefed and consulted about the launch of this healthcare, and the administrative bodies have been informed as to the most beneficial way to propagate the programme.

Under Modicare, a minimum of 10 crore families living under the poverty line are each expected to be guaranteed a healthcare insurance of 5 lakh INR. The intention of this scheme is to ensure the fact that there are no poor families left vulnerable to diseases or other ailments which an APL person could normally afford to cure. The focus of the National Health Promotion Scheme falls directly upon the poor and the collectively marginalized of the society. Modi’s aim is to utilise his scheme to benefit these sections to the fullest.

The exact date of the execution of the programme has not been finalized by the government as of yet. However, sources confirm that the Modicare is being developed at such a rate that the Indian government should be ready to launch it by the 15th of August, 2018.
