According to official reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 10 AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) health and wellness centers in Haryana today.

As part of Ayushman Bharat, the government has promised to establish around 1.5 lakh health and wellness centers in a phased manner. These wellness centers are modeled to provide comprehensive primary health care. Centre will provide for 60% of the funds, while the rest of the amount will be borne by respective states.

These centers are the part of the long-line commitments of AYUSH ministry to open up 12,500 AHWCs in the next three years. Each AHWCs will be equipped with a team of a physician, two multi-purpose workers and accredited social health activists (ASHAs).

An official released from the ministry read, “These centers will be complementing the National Health Policy, 2017 that insisted upon integration and mainstreaming of AYUSH services in conventional health care delivery system. It would be a historic beginning in mainstreaming of holistic, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative AYUSH care for achieving comprehensive health care.” The official release also said that these centers will also carry provisions of diagnostics and medication for a variety of health problems.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to release 12 commemorative postal stamps to honor the AYUSH practitioners. The stamps will also carry the name of eminent scholars and great master healers of AYUSH system.

The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy is a governmental body envisaged for developing and conducting research in the field of alternative medicine.
