The stars totally seem to be in favour of BJP as the party’s influence is rapidly increasing in the country. Before the opposition parties can get over the last loss and recover they receive another blow and this has become the trend from past few months.

After seeing cross voting during the Presidential elections as Congress was just trying to gather some strength back, it received another jolt with the resignation of Shankersinh Vaghela. As if this was not enough to shake the party, it soon faced another major drawback of the only possible hope to contest against Narendra Modi in 2019 polls, Nitish Kumar go join hands with BJP. BJP-JDU coalition proved a majority in Bihar and formed its own government and weakened the opposition all the more.

As if following the trending tradition, 6 MLAs from Gujarat Congress also resigned from the party to join BJP. As per the recent developments in this context, on Friday evening, 2 of the SP and 1 MLC of BSP also resigned in Lucknow. Among those who have resigned are Bukkal Nawab and Yashwant Singh from SP while Jaiver Singh’s name is included from BSP. The resignation of these MLCs is being believed as the beginning of the changing political equations in UP.

Bukkal Nawab is considered very close to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. While the SP is already battling internal strife in such circumstances, his resignation raises many questions. Bukkal said that he was feeling suffocated in the party now. He highly appreciated the works of PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath and also indicated signs of joining the BJP. Responding to his resignation, SP leader Naresh Agrawal said that these people are opportunists, they change the grounds where they see more advantage. Terming the resignation as a step taken for his self-interest, he said that it is a complete decision taken under BJP’s pressure. Further alleging BJP he said that the party has created a strategy to make leaders of every party join BJP by giving them lure for post and money, this resignation is part of the same.

BJP refused to relate to these resignations and said that it is a matter of mutual split of these parties. Party leader and state government cabinet minister Siddharth Nath Singh said that Akhilesh Yadav will be the right person to answer the reason for these resignations. This is an internal matter of his party and BJP has nothing to do with it.

BJP is sure to benefit from these three resignations. None of the leaders, including CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM, Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, who have occupied the top three positions in the state,  have a membership in the Assembly or the Legislative Council. In such a situation, after the resignations, the party can pave a path for these three top leaders of UP to enter into the Legislative Council by making a candidate for vacant seats.
