President elections are due on 17 July and both the NDA and non-NDA candidate, Ram Nath Kovind and Meira Kumar are on their election campaigns, visiting different states. They began with the campaign from Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Meira Kumar was in Hyderabad on Monday and Kovind will be arriving on Tuesday.

The next destination of the campaign is the northeast states of India. NDA candidate is likely to get huge support from these states as People’s Party of Arunachal, BJP’s coalition partner Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland Peoples Front in Aasam and Ruling Naga People’s Front of Nagaland have extended their support to Kovind. He will be visiting the northeast on July 6.

Meira Kumar will be visiting Shillong on July 5, to hold meetings with Congress MLAs and MPs of Assam, Arunachal, Mizoram, Manipur and Sikkim in Guwahati. All India United Democratic Front has agreed to support the opposition’s candidate. Two other small but significant Left allies from Bengal has extended their support to Kumar. CPI has just one MLA in the Bengal Legislative Assembly (WBLA) and RSP has three legislators. She will be visiting WBLA on Tuesday.
